Today, we embark on a journey through a pivotal moment in Christianity—the Ascension of Jesus, as recounted in Acts 1:6-11. It’s a story that transcends time, a narrative of promise, empowerment, and the perpetual presence of Christ in our lives. So, grab your favorite cup of tea, find a comfortable spot, and let’s explore this celestial event together.

Our story begins after the resurrection, a time of confusion and wonder for the disciples. They asked Jesus, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” Jesus responded, not with a direct answer, but with a promise and a commission. He said, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Then, something extraordinary happened. As they watched, Jesus was lifted up, and a cloud hid him from their sight. While they were staring into the sky, two angels appeared and asked, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

The Ascension is not merely a historical event but a profound lesson about the nature of Christ’s kingdom and our role in it. It reminds us that Jesus’s kingdom is not of this world—it’s spiritual, transcending time and space. His ascension signifies the beginning of a new chapter, where his presence is not limited to a physical body but is expanded throughout the entire world through the Holy Spirit.

So, what does this mean for us today? It means that we are empowered. Empowered to be witnesses of Christ’s love and grace, just as the disciples were. Empowered to spread the good news to the ends of the earth. And importantly, it means Jesus is always with us, guiding, comforting, and supporting us through the Holy Spirit.

Now, I’d like to invite you to a moment of reflection. Here’s a journal prompt for you: “In what ways do I feel called to be a witness of Christ’s love in my community? How can I open myself more fully to the guidance of the Holy Spirit?” Take some time today to ponder this, write down your thoughts, and see where the Spirit leads you.

As we close today’s episode, let’s pray together:

Dear Lord, we thank You for the gift of Your ascension, which reminds us of Your eternal presence and the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Help us to be courageous witnesses of Your love, to carry Your light into the corners of our world. May we always remember that we are never alone, for You are with us, to the very end of the age. Amen.

I hope today’s episode has inspired you to reflect on the Ascension’s meaning and how it applies to our daily lives.

Until next time, keep seeking, keep wondering, and keep the faith.

Be Blessed.
