Devotional: Heart of Generosity – Embracing the Joy of Sacrificial Giving
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."
Reflection:
Generosity is often misunderstood. In today’s world, giving is often seen as a transaction rather than a relationship. When we think of generosity, we might picture financial contributions or charitable donations. But God invites us to embrace something much deeper—a heart of generosity that overflows into every aspect of our lives.
The concept of sacrificial giving is beautifully illustrated in the story of the widow’s offering (Mark 12:41-44). Here was a woman who gave not out of her abundance but out of her poverty. Her two small coins meant more than the large sums given by the wealthy, for she gave all she had.
