In Genesis 11, we read about the Tower of Babel, a powerful image of pride and rebellion against God. The people of Babel sought to build a tower that would reach the heavens, in an attempt to make a name for themselves and to avoid being scattered across the earth.
But God saw their arrogance and intervened, confusing their languages so they could no longer communicate with one another and forcing them to scatter across the earth. This story serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of pride and the consequences of ignoring God’s will.
As we reflect on the Tower of Babel, let us remember to humbly submit to God’s authority and seek to align our will with His. Let us be mindful of our motives and avoid seeking glory for ourselves, but instead seek to glorify God in all that we do. May we learn from the mistakes of the people of Babel and strive to build our lives on a foundation of faith and obedience to God.
