Devotional: Lead Like a Servant – Embracing Christ’s Example in Leadership
Verse of the Day:
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45 (NIV)
Reflection:
Leadership is often perceived as a position of power and authority, but as followers of Christ, we are called to redefine that perspective. Jesus, the ultimate leader, demonstrated a radical paradigm shift. His life was a testament to servant leadership—modeling humility, compassion, and selflessness in every interaction.
When Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, He illustrated a profound truth: true leadership is grounded in service. In a world that often prizes dominance and control, we are invited to embrace humility and prioritize the needs of others. As we lead, whether in our homes, workplaces, or communities, we must ask ourselves: How can I serve those I lead? How can I embody Christ’s love and humility in each moment?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, seeking to lead not for my own gain but for the good of those You have entrusted to me. Help me to be a servant leader, reflecting the love and sacrifice of Jesus in my actions and decisions. Teach me to prioritize the needs of others and to listen with compassion. May my leadership inspire others to draw closer to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Action Step:
This week, choose one person in your life to serve in a meaningful way. It could be a coworker, a family member, or a friend. Consider how you can meet their needs and uplift them, whether through a small act of kindness, a listening ear, or a word of encouragement. As you serve, reflect on how this act mirrors Christ’s love and leadership.
Thought for the Day:
In every act of service, we reflect the heart of Christ. Let your leadership be characterized by humility, compassion, and a genuine desire to uplift others. By leading like a servant, we bring the light of Christ into our world, one relationship at a time.
