Devotional: Boundless Love – Embracing Others with God’s Heart
Scripture Reading: 1 John 4:7-12
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." (1 John 4:7-8, NIV)
Reflection
As we navigate the complexities of our daily lives, we often encounter people from all walks of life, each carrying their own stories, struggles, and triumphs. The call to love them — to embrace them with God’s heart — echoes through Scripture, reminding us of the boundless love that God has for each of us.
Boundless love is not a mere sentiment but a divine command. It is the kind of love that doesn’t keep score, that doesn’t draw boundaries, and that seeks to uplift and understand. This love can transform our relationships and heal our communities, allowing God’s heart to shine through us.
Consider the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). A man is beaten and left for dead, and while others pass by, it is the Samaritan — a figure despised by the people of his time — who stops, cares for him, and meets his needs. This account challenges us to open our eyes to everyone around us, regardless of social, cultural, or personal differences. God’s love calls us to embrace the “other,” the marginalized, and even those who may be difficult to love.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your boundless love that knows no limits. Help me to embrace others with Your heart, reflecting Your compassion and grace in my interactions. Teach me to love those who challenge me, who seem different, and who may not understand me. May I be a vessel of Your love in the world, shining light in the darkness. In every encounter, help me to showcase Your love, knowing that in loving others, I am truly knowing You. Amen.
Action Step
Today, seek out one person — a friend, family member, colleague, or stranger — and perform a simple act of kindness. This could be giving a compliment, offering support, or simply listening with an open heart. Let this act be a reflection of God’s boundless love in action.
