Public Health Alert Issued for Contaminated Ground Beef Products

Washington, Jan. 5, 2025 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a significant public health alert concerning frozen, raw ground beef products potentially contaminated with foreign materials, specifically hard plastic and metal. Consumers are advised to refrain from consuming these products, which were produced on December 10, 2024, and are no longer available for purchase.

In a proactive move to safeguard public health, FSIS highlighted that the affected products are vacuum-sealed packages weighing approximately one pound, labeled as “Turner Farm” and “STOCKYARDS PACKING COMPANY GROUND BEEF,” bearing lot code 241210 and establishment number “EST. M2035.” The product was shipped exclusively to Turner Farm located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The need for this alert arose after FSIS received a complaint regarding the discovery of hard plastic and metal pieces in the ground beef, though, thankfully, there have been no reports of injury or illness linked to its consumption. Concern remains, however, that some of these products could still be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Those who have purchased these items are urged to discard them or return them to their point of purchase.

In light of this unexpected health alert, some may reflect on the teachings found in Scripture, such as in 1 Corinthians 10:31, which encourages us to “do everything for the glory of God.” This principle urges us to act thoughtfully regarding what we consume, ensuring the safety and well-being that honor our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit.

The improper handling of such health concerns serves as a reminder that vigilance in food safety and consumer choices directly correlates with the wellbeing of our families and communities. For those with questions about the alert, they can reach out to Stockyards Packing Co. LLC directly at 513-312-0648 or access the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline.

As we navigate these alerts and advisories, let us remember that even in our daily choices, we are called to be stewards of the gifts provided to us. It’s worth pausing to consider the broader implications of our decisions, not just in terms of physical health but also how we live and share our lives with others.

In all situations, whether it’s enjoying a meal or addressing health concerns, the invitation remains: let us strive to glorify God in all that we do, fostering a community grounded in awareness and compassion.
