Meaning

The list of teachings from Jesus, mentioned above, are collectively referred to as the Beatitudes. They don’t speak of happiness as what the world offers but present a blueprint for happiness from a godly perspective. Each Beatitude portrays a characteristic that God rewards with His unparalleled kind of happiness.

Joy and happiness, in God’s eyes, stem not from our current circumstances or material wealth. Instead, it is rooted in spiritual richness, a life of humility, showing mercy to others, and standing firm for God’s righteousness, despite the trials.

These Beatitudes are essentially Jesus showing us a mirror of the happy, fulfilled life that God wants us each to lead. Despite the struggles, we can find true happiness, if we walk in the way Jesus has shown us.
