In Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus tells His followers that they are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Just as salt adds flavor to food and preserves it, we are called to bring a unique and positive influence to the world around us. And just as a city on a hill cannot be hidden, our light should shine brightly for all to see, pointing others to the source of that light, which is Jesus.

Being salt and light in the world means living in a way that reflects the character of Christ. It means being kind, loving, and compassionate towards others. It means standing up for justice and righteousness, even when it’s difficult. It means being a beacon of hope in a world that can often feel dark and hopeless.

As followers of Christ, we have been given a great responsibility to be salt and light in the world. Let us strive to live in a way that honors God and brings glory to His name. As we do, may our actions and words draw others closer to Him and lead them to experience the love and grace of Jesus.
