Devotional: From Ashes to Assurance – Rebuilding Family Trust After Loss

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

Loss shakes the very foundations of our lives, often leaving us feeling like we’re standing amidst ashes. Whether it’s the death of a loved one, divorce, or a significant change, the aftermath can feel disorienting and overwhelming. Our families may struggle with trust, communication, and even love, as we navigate the murky waters of grief together.
The journey from ashes to assurance begins with acknowledging our pain. Just as the psalmist assures us of God’s presence in our trouble, we are reminded not to shy away from our grief but to bring it before God. In the moments of deepest sorrow, we must lean into Him – our refuge, our strength.
