Devotional: The Path of the Wise: Embracing Humility in Every Step
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 11:2 (NIV)
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
Reflection:
In a world that often celebrates self-promotion and boasts of achievements, the call to humility can seem countercultural—but it is a sacred path marked by wisdom and understanding. As we embark on our journey of faith, we find that every step taken in humility brings us closer to the heart of God.
Humility is not about thinking less of ourselves; rather, it’s about thinking of ourselves less. It shifts our focus outward, allowing us to see others clearly and to serve them genuinely. The essence of humility is mirrored in the life of Jesus, who, though He was in very nature God, did not grasp at power or prominence but instead chose to walk among the least of these (Philippians 2:6-8).
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, grant us the grace to embrace humility in our daily lives. Help us to recognize that true wisdom flows from a heart that is willing to serve rather than be served.
