Israeli Strikes Intensify Amid Ongoing Conflict in Gaza and Lebanon
DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Escalating violence in the Middle East claimed dozens of lives over the weekend, including innocent children, amid Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon and northern Gaza. The world watches closely, not only for the humanitarian impact but also for potential shifts in the geopolitical landscape following the recent U.S. elections.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of a united front with Donald Trump, emphasizing a shared concern regarding Iran’s influence in the region. This diplomatic alignment was underscored by Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s upcoming meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday.
The devastating airstrikes included a deadly event in Aalmat, Lebanon, where an Israeli attack claimed at least 23 lives—among them seven children—far from Hezbollah’s strongholds. The Israeli military claimed the target was a Hezbollah weapons site, yet no evacuation warnings were issued beforehand.
