Telangana Launches New Digital Initiatives to Bridge Connectivity Gap in Remote Areas
HYDERABAD: In a significant step toward improving internet accessibility in remote areas of Telangana, IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu has launched the T-Fiber portal (www.tfiber.telangana.gov.in), allowing government institutions to order internet services directly. The announcement, made on Sunday, includes a demonstration of a proof of concept (PoC) in three villages across the state, showcasing how residents can utilize the T-Fiber optical fiber network for better connectivity, even using their televisions during virtual interactions with the minister.
This initiative comes with Government Order MS No. 9, which mandates nearly 90,000 government institutions to integrate T-Fiber as their primary connectivity provider. The launch was part of the larger Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu celebrations, which aims to enhance digital services for citizens.
Bringing Government Services to Your Fingertips
In addition to T-Fiber, the government introduced an updated version of the MeeSeva digital service platform. A mobile app was launched that facilitates access to over 230 government services ranging from government-to-citizen (G2C) to business-to-citizen (B2C). Key features now include the issuance of Gap Certificates and monitoring systems for senior citizens’ care, highlighting the government’s commitment to serve its constituents better.
T. Ravi Kiran, the MeeSeva Commissioner, revealed that among the nine new services added, there is an emphasis on enhancing accessibility through touchscreen kiosks placed in high-traffic areas such as municipal offices and shopping malls.
Empowering Farmers with ADeX
Further supporting the agricultural community, a new platform known as ADeX (Agricultural Data Exchange) was launched in partnership with HDFC Bank. Designed to provide tailored loans of up to Rs 1 lakh for low-income farmers, ADeX uses robust agricultural data to inform its credit services. This initiative aims not only to ease the financial burden on farmers but also to foster innovation within the agricultural sector.
Narsimha, a farmer from Vikarabad and one of the first beneficiaries, expressed gratitude as he received his loan cheque. “This money will help maintain my field and support crop development,” he shared, showcasing the practical benefits of such initiatives.
