GOP Push for Health Care Cuts Raises Concerns for Millions of Americans

In 2021, when President Biden signed ARPA into law, the enhancements extended coverage eligibility, allowing millions more to access affordable health insurance. Estimates suggest that those relying on the subsidies could see their healthcare premiums increase significantly or risk losing coverage altogether as early as next year.

Approximately 93 percent of ACA marketplace enrollees currently benefit from these premium tax credits. Marketplace enrollment among Black individuals surged by 186 percent and by 158 percent among Latinos after the enhancements were implemented.
