Sheryl Crow Sells Tesla, Donates Profits Amid Controversy Surrounding Elon Musk and NPR

As Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency reportedly strips federal agencies down to their core functions, pop icon Sheryl Crow is making her own statement by parting ways with her Tesla vehicle. The nine-time Grammy winner recently opted to sell her Tesla, pledging the proceeds to NPR, a media organization recently subjected to scrutiny by former FCC chairman Brendan Carr.

Crow’s decision to rid herself of the Musk-manufactured car was punctuated by a poignant social media post, where she waved goodbye to the vehicle loaded onto a tow truck. Reflecting on her choice, she shared a quote from her parents: “You are who you hang out with.” This move comes amidst an investigation initiated by Carr to determine whether NPR and PBS’s programming has strayed into the territory of “prohibited commercial advertisements.”

“This is a moment to reflect on who we align ourselves with,” Crow stated. She continued by expressing her hope that funds donated to NPR could help ensure that the “truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know it,” hinting at the turbulent intersection of media and politics under Musk’s watch.

This situation unfolds against the backdrop of Musk’s longstanding tension with NPR, including his prior threats to take control of their Twitter handle. Now, with a perceived mandate from a Trump-led administration to eliminate what he views as “government waste,” the stakes appear higher than ever. Meanwhile, despite the controversies surrounding the electric vehicle maker, reports indicate that the State Department is preparing to invest $400 million in armored Tesla Cybertrucks.

By parting with her Tesla, Crow not only distances herself from Musk’s controversial governance but also highlights the importance of individual values and the collective impact of our choices. The Bible teaches us about the significance of discernment in whom and what we align ourselves with. As Proverbs 13:20 states, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”

This raises a crucial question for us all: Who or what are we aligning ourselves with? Whether in our professional lives or personal decisions, reflecting on this can guide us to make choices that not only benefit ourselves but also uplift our communities.

As Crow’s actions remind us, sometimes we must evaluate our associations and their implications. The challenge lies in staying true to our principles while navigating the complexities of society. Let this situation encourage us to reflect on our values, aiming to foster connections that promote truth, growth, and integrity.
