Catholic Music Awards Finalists Announced: A Celebration of Faith Through Song
By Deborah Castellano Lubov
In an inspiring acknowledgment of artistic dedication to faith, the finalists for the 2025 Catholic Music Awards, often referred to as the Catholic Grammys, have been announced. Scheduled for Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Vatican City, this event promises to spotlight excellence in Catholic music across multiple languages, including Spanish, English, Italian, and Portuguese.
This year’s ceremony, starting at 7:00 PM, will not only honor talented artists but also be broadcast live on social media, reaching a global audience eager to celebrate the arts in alignment with Christian values.
A Mission Beyond Music
Launched by the Fraternity and Fundación Ramón Pané, under the leadership of Cardinal Oscar Rodríguez Maradiaga and Brother Ricardo Grzona, the awards aim to promote music as a service to faith. This initiative encourages artists to weave biblical principles into their craft, fostering a multilateral vision of worship and community engagement.
With 19 categories highlighting various genres and pastoral themes—ranging from Best Album and Best Female Singer to awards for Best Liturgical Song and Best Urban Song—the CMAs are positioned as a cornerstone in recognizing the spiritual impact and artistic merit of musical contributions.
A Heartfelt Selection Process
An international jury of music and pastoral care experts meticulously evaluated the finalists based on their evangelical content, artistic quality, and technical prowess—ensuring that what is celebrated has both heart and depth. As we read in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” This verse resonates deeply within the spirit of the CMAs, where the ultimate goal is glorifying God through creative expression.
Looking Ahead
A press conference will precede the award ceremony on Saturday, July 26, at 11 AM, leading to what many anticipate will be a jubilant evening filled with inspiration and community spirit.
As the finalists prepare to take the stage, it is a timely opportunity for all of us to reflect on the broader spiritual lesson: The arts can be a powerful vehicle for uplifting the human spirit and conveying divine truths. The CMAs not only reward talent but also remind us of the importance of using our gifts to serve others and share joy—an encouragement to all believers in their daily lives.
In a world continually seeking hope and positivity, let us remember the words of Psalm 96:1: “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.” May the celebration of faith through music inspire you to embrace the beauty and power of song in your own life.
