Self Employment “From Dream to Reality” Class Offered in June: Empowering Future Entrepreneurs in Piketon

April 14, 2025 – Mike Smith

(Piketon) – A promising opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs is on the horizon as the Workforce & Business Development Program of the Community Action Committee of Pike County, in collaboration with the OSU Small Business Development Center, is launching a new course titled “Self-Employment: From Dream to Reality!” This transformative series of classes is designed for individuals eager to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into tangible businesses.

Kicking Off Dreams into Action

Starting June 3, the class will convene every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 PM to 4 PM at the OhioMeansJobs Career Center, located at 941 Market Street in Piketon, and will run through June 24. Participants will receive expert guidance on critical aspects of starting and managing a business, equipping them with the tools they need for success.

As the world often seeks to deter us from following ambitious dreams, this initiative stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminiscent of the biblical principle found in Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” This verse speaks to the power of aligning one’s efforts with a purpose greater than oneself, and in this case, the pursuit of entrepreneurship can be a pathway to serve the community while fulfilling personal aspirations.

A Call to Action

For those interested in taking this step towards self-employment, registration is now open. Potential participants can reach out to Erica Jones or Adam Days at (740) 289-2371, or they can visit workforcebusinessdevelopment.org for further details regarding the class and additional offerings.

These classes not only encourage business acumen but also promote the spirit of perseverance and diligence, teaching that hard work and dedication can lead to fruitful outcomes. By nurturing one’s talents and passions, individuals are empowered to create not just jobs for themselves but also opportunities for others, embodying the message of service that Jesus illustrated throughout His teachings.

Reflecting on the Journey Ahead

As this new class approaches, it invites us to reflect not only on our personal ambitions but also on how our endeavors can impact the broader community. Engaging in self-employment not only fulfills a personal goal but can also contribute positively to society—an endeavor that echoes Jesus’ call to love and serve others.

So, as you consider this journey of turning dreams into reality, let this be a reminder of the potential that lies within each of us. Join the conversation, learn, and grow—as you embark on a path that embodies not just success in business, but also a deeper commitment to purpose and community.

Encouragement for the Road Ahead

The pursuit of entrepreneurship is not only about making a living; it reflects a deeper calling to bring your unique gifts into the world. Embrace this challenge and remember, as you take your first steps, that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Explore your potential—who knows where it may lead you?
