Hyderabad’s Numaish Exhibition Takes a Bold Step into the Future with Innovation Pavilion
Hyderabad: The Numaish exhibition, a longstanding tradition in the city renowned for its vibrant carnival atmosphere filled with rides, delectable street food, and a plethora of shopping options, has stepped into a new era. This year’s event debuted the ‘Innovation Pavilion,’ a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to showcasing local startups and bridging the gap between traditional exhibition culture and modern entrepreneurship.
Sujit Jagirdar, CEO of T-Hub, likened the situation to "people from Mars visiting Earth," emphasizing the unique fusion of time-honored exhibition practices with the dynamic world of startup innovation. "Startups, especially in the B2C space, rarely get such direct exposure, and this platform offers them an unmatched opportunity," he remarked.
One standout in this innovative space was Newkind, which introduced groundbreaking sustainable menstrual solutions. "Our product eliminates the need for traditional pads or tampons," explained marketing executive Adyasha, highlighting their innovative underwear designed to last up to 100 washes or three years.
Another notable presence was Pheezee, a device designed to assist physiotherapists in diagnosing joint and muscle pain with precision. Vikash Parekh, head of strategic partnerships, shared the potential impact of their technology: "Our device provides detailed reports and questionnaires, enhancing the accuracy of pain detection."
Alkaione showcased its alkaline water filtration technology, a solution that addresses water purity through advanced ionization. Founder Anand Vishwanathan detailed the costs associated with providing clean water, emphasizing the importance of investing in sustainable practices.
Addressing environmental challenges, Switcheko, a recycling company, underscored the need for innovative solutions to tackle India’s plastic waste crisis. Founder Akshay Deshpande articulated a pressing call to action: "India generates millions of metric tonnes of plastic waste annually, and recycling is the future." His plea for inventive recycling methods resonates deeply with the current global conversation on environmental responsibility.
However, establishing the Innovation Pavilion was not without its challenges. "Convincing stakeholders to provide free space for startups was unprecedented in Numaish’s history," noted Aditya Margam from the Exhibition Society, reflecting on the hurdles they overcame to realize this vision. Yet, despite these challenges, the success of this initiative hints at a promising future for startups at exhibitions to come.
In an age that sees the importance of innovation alongside community responsibility, the scripture from Proverbs 16:3 comes to mind: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” This verse beautifully encapsulates the spirit of collaboration and faith inherent in the startup community and their quest for impactful solutions.
As we witness Hyderabad’s vibrant blend of tradition and innovation, it invites us to reflect on how we can harmonize our actions with a sense of greater purpose. The entrepreneurial spirit, enriched by core values such as stewardship and sustainability, aligns seamlessly with the call to care for our neighbors and our environment. This initiative not only transforms the exhibition landscape but also cultivates a community of innovators committed to creating a positive impact.
As this year’s Numaish evolves, let us be inspired to embrace new ideas and work together to foster a culture of innovation, grounded in compassion and responsibility. Reflect on how each of us can contribute to the common good, inspired by the collaborative spirit exhibited at this year’s event.
