West Texas A&M University Hosts Job Fair with Community Focus

CANYON, Texas (KFDA) – On August 28, West Texas A&M University will kick off the school year with its Back-to-School Job Fair, taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Charles K. and Barbara Kerr Vaughan Pedestrian Mall. This event offers a golden opportunity for students to secure part-time employment, both on and off campus, as they embark on the 2025-2026 academic year.

“This job fair is all about making meaningful connections between students and the local employers in Amarillo and Canyon,” noted Sam Green, associate director of the WT Office of Career and Professional Services. His enthusiasm reflects an underlying principle found in the Bible—community support and collaboration. As students step into this new chapter, they are reminded that, just as Jesus taught about the power of serving one another, reaching out for help in career pursuits is a form of community upliftment.

The job fair isn’t just a one-time event; it marks the beginning of a series of opportunities for students to engage with potential employers. Future fairs include the Graduate and Professional Schools Fair on September 10, the Fall Career and Internship Expo on September 25, and “Meet the Accountants” on November 13. These gatherings echo the biblical encouragement to seek wisdom, guiding students toward fruitful paths in their careers.

As Proverbs 16:3 advises, “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” This verse serves as a reminder that putting faith and effort into one’s pursuits can lead to success and fulfillment.

With the new semester approaching, students are not just seeking jobs; they are making strides toward their futures. This job fair represents a commitment to growth, both personally and professionally.

As you consider attending the job fair or seeking opportunities, reflect on the importance of community and service. Each connection made is a step towards not only career success but also toward fostering relationships that can carry you through both personal and professional endeavors.
