Collaboration Key to Tackling Indonesia’s Employment Crisis: Minister Says
Jakarta (ANTARA) – In a recent address, Manpower Minister Yassierli emphasized that cross-sectoral collaboration is essential to addressing Indonesia’s pressing issue of unemployment, a problem that extends beyond government boundaries to involve local governments and industries alike. Speaking at the "Proud to Be a Farmer" event in West Bandung, West Java, Yassierli remarked, “Unemployment is a shared problem,” highlighting the need for collective action in tackling this social challenge.
The event not only aimed to shift the negative perceptions surrounding agriculture but also sought to inspire a new generation to consider careers in the sector. Yassierli stressed that engaging young people in agriculture is vital, as it aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s goals for Indonesia’s food self-sufficiency.
“Becoming farmers is noble,” Yassierli noted, asserting that the journey of a farmer can be both rewarding and impactful. He encouraged the use of modern technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), to enhance productivity, making the agricultural profession more appealing. This aligns with a broader principle found in Scripture—“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23, ESV). Such a mindset not only elevates the task at hand but also infuses purpose into hard work.
Reinforcing the role of education in agriculture, Yassierli announced that the Agriculture Ministry’s Vocational Training and Productivity Center (BPVP) would provide certifications for graduates from vocational schools. Through skills enhancement and certification, BPVP aims to nurture an advanced agricultural ecosystem, bridging the gap between education and practical application.
Yassierli’s push for strengthening the agricultural sector echoes biblical teachings about stewardship and community support. In Matthew 25:35-40, we are reminded that serving our communities, much like farmers feed the masses, is a divine calling that fulfills both personal and communal needs.
As we reflect on Yassierli’s statements and the initiatives surrounding employment and agriculture, it is clear that collaboration is not just a matter of economic necessity but a shared journey of service and purpose. The underlying spiritual lesson here is one of community, commitment, and innovation.
Let us consider how we can contribute to uplifting our communities, much like the farmers who nourish our bodies and souls. In doing so, we align our efforts with the call to serve one another and foster a spirit of generosity and mutual support. As you ponder these themes, think about how you can participate in building a supportive environment for employment and growth in your community.
