Chattanooga Cleaning Contractor Fined $400,000 for Child Labor Violations

The DOL’s Wage and Hour Division uncovered that QSI LLC was utilizing children for overnight sanitation shifts at 13 meat and poultry processing facilities from January 2021 through February 2024. Allegations span numerous states, including Tennessee, Alabama, California, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, and Virginia. Such actions not only violate federal regulations but also disregard the well-being and development of young workers.
In response to the violations, the agreement reached with the Department of Labor mandates QSI LLC to pay the hefty fine, implement stringent auditing policies, and maintain a toll-free number for reporting potential child labor concerns. “The Department of Labor is determined to stop our nation’s children from being endangered in jobs for which they should never be hired,” stated Solicitor of Labor Seema Nanda.
