Beijing AI Company to List in Hong Kong, Eyeing Global Expansion
In a significant announcement for the technology landscape, a Beijing-based artificial intelligence (AI) solutions provider, AICT, is preparing to not only list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange but also establish its international headquarters in the city. Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po disclosed this development on Sunday, emphasizing the government’s commitment to attracting innovative enterprises dedicated to technology and creative strategies.
The news follows a prior report suggesting that AICT aims to raise approximately US$200 million through its upcoming initial public offering (IPO) in Hong Kong. Chan revealed in his weekly blog that along with its headquarters, the company plans to set up a global research and development center in the city as a strategic move to expand its operations globally.
AICT specializes in high-precision AI products, particularly in smart traffic management, self-driving vehicles, perception robots, and ventures within the low-altitude economy. With applications already in over 50 cities across mainland China, including Beijing and Shanghai, AICT’s innovations have facilitated upwards of 1 billion car trips, showcasing the potential of AI solutions in everyday life.
In the broader context of Hong Kong’s financial sector, Chan noted that the exchange is actively reviewing more than 100 listing applications, with several high-profile enterprises, including a notable international player in the new energy sector and a burgeoning startup from Hangzhou dubbed one of the "Six Little Dragons" — a group representing some of the most promising tech companies in the region.
