In a world overflowing with entertainment choices—movies, television shows, music, video games, and social media—it can be overwhelming to discern what aligns with our values and what brings us closer to God. As followers of Christ, we are called to be intentional about our choices, understanding that every form of entertainment interacts with our thoughts, beliefs, and ultimately, our spirit.
The Quest for Discernment:
Navigating entertainment choices requires us to reflect upon the principles that guide us. The Apostle Paul reminds us to focus our thoughts on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. This list is not just a suggestion; it’s a pathway to spiritual clarity.
In prayer, ask the Holy Spirit for guidance as you engage with various forms of entertainment. This invitation for divine wisdom helps in filtering choices through God’s lens. Is the content uplifting? Does it inspire you to grow in your faith or to live a life of love? Or does it foster negativity or temptation?
