Poughkeepsie, New York – A New Era for Marist Football as Jackson Conners-McCarthy Earns AP All-American Honors

In a groundbreaking achievement for the Marist football program, red-shirt freshman tight end Jackson Conners-McCarthy has been named an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American, becoming the first freshman to earn this prestigious recognition in the school’s history.

Conners-McCarthy’s remarkable season has not only established him as a standout player but has also etched his name into the record books alongside some of the program’s greats. His accomplishment serves as a testament to dedication, perseverance, and the spirit of teamwork, echoing the biblical principle found in Galatians 6:9: “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Leading the Red Foxes this season, Conners-McCarthy recorded a total of 50 receptions for 441 yards, underscoring his crucial role in the team’s success. Notably, he topped the Pioneer Football League with impressive numbers, making him a formidable opponent on the field. His performance against Davidson on October 5, where he achieved a season-high of 101 receiving yards and a touchdown, exemplifies the fruits of his hard work and determination.

This honor not only reflects individual excellence but also represents the collaborative efforts of the Marist community, highlighting how collective endeavor can lead to extraordinary outcomes. Conners-McCarthy stands as Marist’s fourth AP honoree in history, joining the ranks of past exceptional players who forged paths in football. This milestone invites deeper reflection on the importance of resilience and support from teammates—a sentiment reminiscent of Ecclesiastes 4:9, which states, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.”

Transitioning from a linebacker at Bryant to a tight end with Marist this season, Conners-McCarthy’s journey illustrates the significance of adaptability and openness to new opportunities. His recent achievement aligns with a universal truth: When we embrace change and challenge ourselves, remarkable growth and achievement can occur.

As we celebrate Conners-McCarthy’s accomplishments, let us also recognize the values he embodies—dedication, teamwork, and unyielding spirit. It invites us to contemplate how we can apply these principles in our own lives. Whether on the field or in our daily endeavors, the encouragement to strive for excellence states that hard work, combined with unwavering faith and support from others, can lead to fulfilling and fruitful outcomes.

In this season of achievement, may we all reflect on how we can uplift and encourage those around us as we pursue our own goals. Remember, as Philippians 4:13 teaches, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Celebrate achievements, support one another, and continue to pursue your own paths with determination and hope.
