Devotional: Journeying in Faith: Embracing Paul’s Call to Mission
Scripture Reading: Acts 13:2-4
"While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus."
Reflection:
The journey of faith is never a solitary endeavor; it is a community-driven mission filled with purpose and grace. In Acts 13, we witness the early church’s commitment to seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance. The calling of Paul and Barnabas was not merely a personal invitation; it was a collective endorsement by the church in Antioch, a reminder of our dependence on one another in the body of Christ.
Paul’s life is a testament to the transformational power of a mission-driven life. Once a persecutor of Christians, he became one of the most influential apostles of the early church. His life challenges us to reconsider our own journeys. Are we willing to embrace the unexpected paths that God sets before us? Lord, empower us like Paul and Barnabas to answer Your call with courage and commitment. May we also be a source of encouragement to our brothers and sisters in Christ, uplifting each other as we pursue the paths You have set before us. Fill us with Your love, and may our lives reflect Your light in a world that longs for hope. Amen.
