Your Personal Call from Jesus – Exploring John 1:35 – Will You Answer
Do you ever wonder what your personal call from Jesus might be? In the Gospel of John, we see how Jesus called his disciples to follow Him, and each call was unique and personal. Let’s explore John 1:35 and reflect on how Jesus may be calling you today.
In John 1:35-37, we read about how John the Baptist was standing with two of his disciples when he saw Jesus passing by. John pointed Him out, saying, “Look, the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard this and started following Jesus. When Jesus saw them following Him, He asked, “What do you want?”
How would you respond if Jesus asked you, “What do you want?” What desires or needs would you bring before Him? Take a moment to reflect on this question and consider what your heart longs for in His presence.
As we continue reading in John 1:38-39, we see that the two disciples responded to Jesus by asking, “Rabbi, where are you staying?” Jesus invited them to come and see. They went and stayed with Him that day. This simple exchange led to a personal encounter with Jesus that changed their lives forever.
Just like these two disciples, Jesus is inviting you to come and see, to spend time in His presence and get to know Him. Will you answer His call? Will you take that step of faith to follow Him and see where He leads you?
Reflect on your own personal call from Jesus. What is He inviting you to? How is He challenging you to step out in faith and trust Him more fully? Take some time to meditate on these questions and listen for His voice in your heart.
In John 1:43-46, we see how Jesus called Philip to follow Him. Philip then went and found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth.” Nathanael was skeptical at first, but when he met Jesus, he was amazed and declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”
Your personal call from Jesus may lead you to share the good news with others, just like Philip did. It may challenge you to overcome doubt and skepticism, like Nathanael. Trust that Jesus knows you personally and has a unique plan and purpose for your life.
As you ponder your personal call from Jesus, remember that He is always with you, guiding you, and inviting you to deeper relationship with Him. Will you answer His call today? Will you step out in faith and follow Him wherever He leads?
Take some time to pray and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. Ask Jesus to reveal His personal call for you and give you the courage to answer. Trust in His perfect plan for your life and walk boldly in faith, knowing that He is always by your side.
Let’s be brave and answer His call, just as the disciples did. Let’s follow Him with all our hearts and see the amazing things He will do in and through us. Your personal call from Jesus is waiting – will you answer?
Summary:
Jesus is personally calling you to follow Him, just as He called His disciples in the Gospel of John. Reflect on your own personal call from Jesus and be open to His leading in your life. Trust in His perfect plan for you and step out in faith to follow Him wherever He may lead. Will you answer His call today?
