What Jesus teaches about The Kingdom of God

Introduction

The Kingdom of God is one of the central themes in the teachings of Jesus throughout the Gospel. Jesus speaks frequently about God’s Kingdom, encouraging all to seek and to build it in their hearts and in their lives. Through these teachings, we learn not only about God’s dominion, but also about His love, mercy, justice, and peace.

Today, we want to dive into what Jesus teaches us about the Kingdom of God. This will open our minds and our hearts to understand the kind of relationship God desires with us, the purpose of our lives here on earth, and the value that comes from seeking His Kingdom above all else.

Bible Verse

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33 NIV)

Meaning

This verse demonstrates that our priority should be to seek the Kingdom of God above all else. Jesus assures us that when we do so, all our needs will be met. He doesn’t mean just our physical needs, but our emotional, our spiritual, and our relational needs as well. The Kingdom of God is not just something we hope to be part of in the future, but it’s something to embody and experience in the present.

The Kingdom of God is living under the dominion of Christ and acknowledging His sovereignty in our lives. It is a realm where truth and grace reign, a society grounded on love, equity, and hope. It’s about having Jesus on the throne of our lives, guiding and directing our paths according to His will. Seeking His Kingdom involves striving to live our lives as He would have us live, while also striving to advance His kingdom here on earth.
