Devotional: Created in His Image – Embracing Divine Equality in Gender
Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:26-27 (NIV)
“Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

As we delve into the profound truth that we are created in the image of God, we must pause and ponder what that truly means for us as individuals and as a collective of humanity. In Genesis, we are reminded not only of our divine origin but also of the equal footing on which all of humanity stands. This passage emphasizes that both male and female are created purposefully in God’s image, a foundational truth that invites us to acknowledge and celebrate gender equality as part of God’s divine design.
Understanding Divine Equality:

Both men and women were intentionally made in the likeness of God, reflecting His character, attributes, and creativity. This means that we are equally valued in His eyes. Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible truth that I am made in Your image, along with my brothers and sisters. May I be an ally for equality, breaking down barriers and sowing seeds of unity. Empower me to lift others up, recognizing and affirming their unique contributions to Your kingdom.
