Trusting God with Our Time

As Christians, we are called to steward our time wisely and be productive in our work. The Bible teaches us the importance of managing our time well and making the most of each day.

1. We are reminded in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” God has a perfect plan for our time, and we can trust Him to guide us in how we manage it.

2. Proverbs 16:3 encourages us to “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” When we seek God’s guidance in our time management, we can be confident that He will help us be productive in our tasks.

Being Diligent in Our Work

3. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Our productivity should be driven by our desire to honor God in all that we do.

4. Proverbs 14:23 says, “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” We are called to be diligent and hardworking, knowing that our efforts will bring fruit in due time.

Surrendering Our Plans to God

5. Psalm 90:12 reminds us to “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” When we surrender our plans to God and seek His wisdom in managing our time, we can be assured of making the most of each day.

6. Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” We can make our plans, but ultimately, it is God’s purpose that will prevail. Trusting in His sovereignty helps us manage our time with peace and confidence.

Journal Prompts:

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to be a good steward of the time you have given me. Guide me in managing my time with wisdom and diligence, and help me to surrender my plans to your purpose. May my productivity be a reflection of my desire to honor you in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
