Devotional about Generosity
Generosity: A Biblical Perspective
God’s Generosity
When we think of generosity, we can’t help but think of the ultimate example of generosity – God giving His only Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. Through this act, God displayed His immeasurable love and generosity towards us.
Scriptural Principles
The Bible is filled with verses that encourage and instruct us to be generous:
- “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Luke 6:38
- “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
- “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” – Proverbs 19:17
Blessings of Generosity
There is great joy and fulfillment in being generous. When we give freely and cheerfully, we not only bless others, but we also experience the blessings that come from giving. God promises that we will receive in abundance when we give with a generous heart.
Journal Prompts

Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for your incredible generosity towards me. Help me to reflect your generous spirit in my own life. Show me opportunities to give and bless others. Remove any selfishness or fear of lack from my heart, and fill me with a desire to be a cheerful giver. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
