Devotional about No amount of learning can bring you closer to God
No amount of learning can bring you closer to God
Learning Without Love
It’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. And while education is important, no amount of learning can bring us closer to God if it’s not accompanied by love for Him and for others.
1 Corinthians 8:1b (NIV) tells us, “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.” We may gain all the wisdom and understanding in the world, but without love, it is meaningless in the eyes of God.
Seeking God’s Heart
Proverbs 9:10 (NIV) says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Our pursuit of knowledge should begin with seeking God’s heart and understanding His character and will for our lives.
When we seek to know God more deeply, our learning becomes a source of growth in our faith and a means of drawing closer to Him. It is not merely about accumulating facts, but about understanding and embodying God’s truth in our lives.
Learning in Humility
Proverbs 2:6 (NIV) reminds us, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Our learning should be grounded in a posture of humility, recognizing that true wisdom and understanding come from God alone.
As we approach our pursuit of knowledge with humility, we open ourselves up to God’s guidance and direction. We can trust that He will lead us in the paths of righteousness and draw us closer to Him through our learning.
