The Art of Letting Go

Letting Go of Control

As Christians, we are called to surrender control of our lives to God. Letting go of control doesn’t mean giving up, but rather trusting in God’s plan for us.

  • Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)
  • For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. (Isaiah 55:8)

Letting Go of the Past

It can be hard to move forward when we are holding onto past hurts and mistakes. Forgiveness and grace are key components in letting go of the past.

  • Forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead. (Philippians 3:13)
  • As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:12)

Letting Go of Fear

Fear can hold us back from experiencing the fullness of God’s blessings for us. Trusting in God’s love can help us overcome our fears.

  • For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7)
  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)
