Bible Verse

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” – Revelation 3:20 ESV

Meaning

Revelation 3:20 is a call of intimate fellowship from Jesus to each person. It illustrates Jesus standing patiently, persistently, and passionately at the door of our hearts, wanting to have a personal relationship with us. The image of Jesus knocking signifies His invitation and our free will to open or ignore.

When it’s written, “If anyone hears my voice”, it’s a clear indication that God does not discriminate. His invitation is extended to everyone, regardless of their past, social status, or background.

The latter part of the verse promises a divine reward. If we open the door and invite Him in, we get to dine with Jesus. It is symbolic of deepening our relationship with Him through constant communication and dependence on His wisdom.
