Entertainment related to the theme of 2 Corinthians 5:7

Introduction

Do you ever find yourself caught up in the world of entertainment? Whether it’s diving into a captivating movie, binge-watching your favorite TV show, or getting lost in the rhythm of music, we all enjoy a good dose of entertainment in our lives. However, as followers of Christ, it’s important to remember the wisdom found in 2 Corinthians 5:7: “For we live by faith, not by sight.”

This verse reminds us that our lives should be rooted in faith rather than solely relying on what we see and experience in the world. It’s a call to have our hearts and minds attuned to God’s truth, even in the midst of entertainment. So, let’s take a moment to explore how we can approach the realm of entertainment with a biblical perspective.

Movies

Just like any storytelling medium, movies have the power to inspire and evoke emotions within us. They can transport us to different worlds, make us laugh, cry, and even challenge our thinking. When it comes to movies that reflect the theme of 2 Corinthians 5:7, a few notable examples come to mind.

  1. One such movie is “Facing the Giants,” a story about a high school football coach who faces seemingly insurmountable challenges but remains steadfast in his faith. It reminds us to trust in God’s plan, even when life’s circumstances may seem impossible.
  2. “Soul” is another captivating animated film that explores the question of purpose and the meaning of life. It encourages us to consider the unseen realities and to prioritize spiritual matters rather than solely focusing on the visible world.
  3. “Hacksaw Ridge” portrays the incredible true story of Desmond Doss, a conscientious objector who served as a medic during World War II. His unwavering faith and commitment to saving lives in the midst of chaos teach us about the power of living by faith, even in the face of tremendous adversity.

  • “The Good Place” is a thought-provoking comedy that explores the concept of the afterlife and the ultimate pursuit of goodness. It prompts us to reflect on the greater purpose of our lives beyond what is visible and encourages us to live in light of eternity.
  • “Stranger Things” captivates audiences with its thrilling supernatural storyline. Amidst the suspense and mystery, it reminds us that there is often more to life than what meets the eye, prompting us to consider the unseen spiritual dimensions in our journey of faith.

Music

Music has a unique way of touching our souls and conveying deep emotions. Here are a few examples of songs that reflect the theme of 2 Corinthians 5:7:

  • “You Say” by Lauren Daigle is a popular song that affirms our identity in Christ. It reminds us that our worth and value come from Him, not from the opinions or standards of the world. It encourages us to stand firm in our faith, relying on God’s truth rather than our physical circumstances.

Prayer related to theme of 2 Corinthians 5:7

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I come before you in prayer today, I am reminded of the words from 2 Corinthians 5:7, which says, “For we live by faith, not by sight.” Lord, help me to truly grasp the meaning and significance of this verse in my life.

Father, in a world filled with uncertainty and doubt, I find solace in knowing that I can place my trust in you. I confess, sometimes it can be challenging to navigate through life without relying on what I can see with my own eyes. Yet, you call us to a higher level of faith, to trust in you completely, even when circumstances seem impossible.

Lord, I acknowledge that faith requires me to step out of my comfort zone, to venture into the unknown with unwavering confidence in your guidance. Strengthen my faith, O Lord, that it may become an unwavering foundation in my life. Give me the courage to believe in your promises, to stand firm even when faced with adversity.

Help me to remember that my sight may deceive me, but your word and your promises are steadfast and true. Open my spiritual eyes, Lord, so that I may see beyond the physical and perceive your hand at work in my life and in the world around me. Teach me to lean on you, to trust in your plans and purposes, even when they seem contrary to what my human understanding can comprehend.

Father, I ask for your grace and mercy to sustain me in the times where my faith wavers. Empower me with your Holy Spirit, that I may be rooted in you and led by your wisdom. Guide my steps, Lord, as I walk by faith, not by sight.

I surrender myself to you, Lord, knowing that you are trustworthy and faithful. I choose to cast aside any doubts or fears that hinder my faith, and I invite you to increase my faith daily. May my life be a testament to the world that walks in faith, confidently living according to your will.

In Jesus’ precious name, I pray.

Amen.
