Let’s dive into a child-friendly story about Moses, a very special person in the Bible. Our story is called “Moses and the Big Escape.”
Long, long ago, in a land filled with sand and pyramids called Egypt, there lived a baby boy named Moses. But, Moses wasn’t just any baby. He was born at a time when it was very dangerous for baby boys like him. To keep him safe, Moses’ mommy made a tough decision. She carefully placed him in a basket and hid it among the reeds by the river’s edge.
Guess what? The princess of Egypt, while taking a bath in the river, found the basket. She heard Moses crying and felt sorry for him. Even though she knew he was one of the Hebrew babies, she decided to keep him and raise him as her own son. That’s how Moses got to live in the palace.
As Moses grew up, he saw how hard his real people, the Hebrews, were working. They were not happy because they were being treated very poorly. Moses wanted to help them, but he wasn’t sure how.
One day, when Moses was a grown-up, he was taking care of sheep in the desert. Suddenly, he saw a bush that was on fire but wasn’t burning up! From the bush, God spoke to him. God told Moses to go back to Egypt and tell the Pharaoh to let God’s people go. Moses was scared at first because it was a big task. But God promised to be with him.
So, Moses went back to Egypt and said exactly what God told him to say: “Let my people go!” But the Pharaoh said no. Because of his decision, Egypt had to face ten scary plagues, like rivers turning into blood, frogs everywhere, and even darkness during the day!
After the tenth plague, the Pharaoh finally agreed to let the Hebrews go. Moses led them out of Egypt, but when they reached the Red Sea, they found themselves trapped. The Pharaoh had changed his mind and was chasing them with his army!
But Moses trusted God. He raised his staff, and God did something amazing. He parted the Red Sea, and the ground became dry. The Hebrews walked through the middle of the sea with walls of water on both sides! When they were safely on the other side, the water came back, and the Pharaoh’s army couldn’t catch them.
Moses and the Hebrews were free, thanks to God’s help and Moses’ bravery.
