Entertainment related to the theme of 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Introduction
Welcome to our short devotional on entertainment! In today’s world, entertainment is everywhere – from movies and TV shows to music. But have you ever stopped and thought about how these forms of entertainment can impact your spiritual life? In 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, the apostle Paul writes, “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” Let’s explore together how we can enjoy entertainment while keeping our spirit, soul, and body blameless before the Lord.
Movies
1. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe – This movie beautifully portrays the battle between good and evil, reminding us of the spiritual warfare we face and the God who is faithful to sanctify us.
2. Soul Surfer – Based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, this movie encourages us to trust in God’s faithfulness, even in the midst of tragedy and hardship.
TV Shows
1. The Chosen – This TV series provides a fresh perspective on the life of Jesus and the transformational power of encountering the Savior.
2. When Calls the Heart – Set in the Canadian frontier, this show teaches us about the importance of community, faith, and hope in challenging times.
Music
1. “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” by Hillsong UNITED – This worship song reminds us of God’s faithfulness and the peace we find in stepping out in faith, walking on the waters with Him.
2. “God Only Knows” by for KING & COUNTRY – This song speaks to the depth of God’s love and the assurance that He is faithful, even when we feel alone or lost.
Conclusion
As we enjoy various forms of entertainment, let’s remember to seek God’s sanctification in our whole being. While movies, TV shows, and music can be enjoyable and uplifting, they can also impact our spiritual walk. Let’s be mindful of the content we consume and allow the Lord to keep us blameless. Prayer related to theme of 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before you today, acknowledging your sovereignty and your faithfulness. You have called me to live a life of holiness and purity, and I pray that you would continue to sanctify me entirely, spirit, soul, and body, as you have promised in 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24.
I thank you for the work you have already begun in me, and I ask that you would continue to mold and shape me into the person you have called me to be. Help me to walk in obedience and righteousness, and to be a vessel for your glory.
I trust in your faithfulness, knowing that you are able to keep me blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I take comfort in the fact that it is you who calls me, and you who will also bring it to pass.
May your grace and peace be with me always, and may I continue to grow in my relationship with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
