Matthew 26 36 – Gethsemane – A Lesson in Faith and Strength | Bible 101 Devotional

Bible 101

In Matthew 26:36, we find Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, on the night before His crucifixion. He is deeply troubled and asks His disciples to stay and keep watch with Him while He prays to God. Jesus knows the suffering that lies ahead of Him, but He still submits to the Father’s will, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

In this moment, we see Jesus demonstrating incredible faith and strength. Despite facing overwhelming circumstances, He chooses to trust in God’s plan and purpose for His life. He shows us that even in our darkest moments, we can find strength in surrendering to God’s will and relying on His unfailing love and power.

Like Jesus, we too will face trials and challenges that may seem too difficult to bear. But in those moments, we can turn to God in prayer, just as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane. We can trust that God is always with us, guiding and sustaining us through every trial and tribulation.

May we be inspired by Jesus’ example of faith and strength in the face of adversity. May we learn to surrender our will to God’s will and find comfort and peace in His presence. And may we always remember that through faith and prayer, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way.
