Introduction

Welcome to BGodInspired.com, where we seek to inspire and uplift through the word of God. Today, let’s explore the theme of Leviticus 19:18 and its relevance to our entertainment choices. In this verse, God instructs us to love our neighbors as ourselves. How can we apply this principle to the movies we watch, the TV shows we indulge in, and the music we listen to? Join us on this short devotional journey to find out!

Our choices in entertainment can shape our minds, hearts, and attitudes. Let’s consider how we can align our choices with God’s commandment to love one another.

Movies

The movies we watch have the power to inspire, challenge, and entertain us. When we choose films that reflect the theme of Leviticus 19:18, we promote empathy, compassion, and understanding. Consider movies like “The Pursuit of Happyness,” where the main character exhibits kindness and selflessness towards others, or “Hidden Figures,” which showcases the strength of unity and cooperation. These films make us reflect on how we can truly love our neighbors and make a positive impact in their lives.

Another excellent example is “Les Misérables” – a powerful story of redemption, forgiveness, and sacrificial love. It reminds us that extending love to others, even when they may not deserve it, can transform lives and bring about profound change. As we choose movies that embody the theme of Leviticus 19:18, we allow God’s love to shape our hearts and minds.

TV Shows

Television shows can offer both entertainment and an opportunity for personal growth. Look for shows that highlight friendship, respect, and compassion, such as “The Good Place,” where characters strive to become better versions of themselves by putting others’ needs before their own. Additionally, “This Is Us” showcases the complexities of human relationships, emphasizing the importance of empathy and understanding in our interactions with others.

We can also learn valuable lessons about love and forgiveness through shows like “The Chosen,” which depicts the life of Jesus and His unwavering love for humanity. By choosing TV shows that align with the principles of Leviticus 19:18, we invite God to mold our character and deepen our capacity to love unconditionally.

Music

Music has the power to inspire, uplift, and move us emotionally. When it comes to music, we can seek out songs that promote love, kindness, and unity. Artists like Lauren Daigle, with her heartfelt song “Rescue,” remind us of the love God has for us and how we can extend that love to others through acts of kindness and compassion.

Songs like “Imagine” by John Lennon or “Heal the World” by Michael Jackson encourage us to envision a world where love and unity prevail. As we immerse ourselves in music that echoes the essence of Leviticus 19:18, we can be reminded of our duty to love and make a positive impact in the lives of those around us.

Conclusion

As we conclude this short devotional, let us remember that God’s commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves extends to all aspects of our lives, including the entertainment we consume. By being intentional in our choices of movies, TV shows, and music, we can align our leisure time with God’s plan for us.

Let’s take this opportunity to examine our own entertainment preferences and seek out content that encourages love, compassion, and unity. By doing so, we allow God’s transformative love to shape us, inspiring us to live out Leviticus 19:18 in our daily lives.

Prayer related to theme of Leviticus 19:18

Dear Lord,

I come before you today with a humble heart and a desire to follow your commandments. As I reflect on the words of Leviticus 19:18, which says, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” I am reminded of the importance of love and kindness in my interactions with others.

Father, you are the perfect example of love, and I ask for your guidance in truly understanding and implementing this commandment in my life. Help me to see all individuals as your cherished creations, deserving of love and respect.

Lord, it is easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and forget the significance of loving others. Sometimes, I may even find it challenging to love myself. But today, I surrender all my doubts and insecurities to you. Please fill me with your unconditional love so that I can extend it to others without reservation.

Father, open my eyes to the needs of those around me. Show me practical ways in which I can be a source of love, comfort, and encouragement to those who are hurting or marginalized. Help me to treat others with fairness, justice, and compassion, just as you do.

Forgive me for the times I have failed to live up to the commandment of loving my neighbor. Give me the strength to overcome any selfishness, pride, or bitterness that may hinder my ability to love others wholeheartedly.

Lord, I also pray for a spirit of unity among your people. May we, as your children, set aside our differences and extend a hand of love and understanding to one another. Help us to build a community that reflects your love for us and draws others closer to you.

In all things, may my actions be guided by love. May my words be filled with kindness, and may I always seek to bring glory to your holy name.

I thank you, Lord, for the gift of this commandment in Leviticus 19:18. I pray that you would fill me with your love so that I can faithfully fulfill it. In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Amen.
