The Greatest Commandment

Love is at the core of who God is and what He desires for us. In Mark 12:30-31, Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. This commandment encompasses the essence of God’s character and the foundation of how we are called to live.

As believers, we are called to love unconditionally, just as God loves us. This means showing love to others regardless of their background, beliefs, or actions. It means putting others before ourselves and seeking ways to serve and bless them in tangible ways.

Showing Love in Action

1. Forgiving those who have wronged us.

2. Extending grace and compassion to those in need.

3. Speaking words of encouragement and affirmation to those around us.

Journal Prompts:

  1. How have you experienced God’s love in your life?
  2. Who is someone in your life that you struggle to love? How can you show them love this week?
  3. What does it look like to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength?

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I thank you for the example of perfect love that you have shown me. Help me to love others as you have loved me, without condition or reservation. Give me the strength and wisdom to show your love to those around me. Amen.
