Salina, KS \u2014<\/strong> On April 1, 2026, the Kansas State University Salina campus buzzed with anticipation as entrepreneurs showcased their innovative business ideas during the 5th Annual Charlie Walker Pitch Challenge. With a total of $16,000 in prize funding awarded to the top five finalists, the competition proved to be not just a contest of creativity, but a testament to the thriving entrepreneurial spirit in the community.<\/p>\n

Presented by several local organizations, including the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce and Kansas State University Salina, this year’s event honored the legacy of Charlie Walker\u2014a dedicated entrepreneur and mentor who inspired many in Salina before his passing in 2012. The importance of fostering potential was underscored in remarks by Guy Walker, President of Blue Beacon, who shared poignant stories of his grandfather\u2019s unwavering support for aspiring business owners.<\/p>\n
