ABUJA<\/strong> \u2014 In a compelling call to action, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has urged African entrepreneurs to unite in order to channel the continent’s vast potential, echoing the transformative success of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Over the past two decades, MIT has raised more than $1.5 billion and generated over 30,000 direct jobs, showcasing the power of collective effort in entrepreneurship and innovation.<\/p>\n

During a recent meeting at the presidential villa with a delegation from the Kuo Sharper Foundry Fellowship 2025-2026, led by MIT\u2019s Executive Director Dina Sherif, Shettima emphasized the need for African unity in both professional and entrepreneurial realms. \u201cAfrica is the new frontier,\u201d he stated, underscoring that the continent holds the keys to its own transformation, but that collaboration among its people is essential.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike a group of believers supporting one another in faith, our entrepreneurs must also fuse into a powerful collective to maximize the opportunities that abound across our nations,\u201d Shettima remarked. Sherif echoed similar sentiments, indicating that MIT\u2019s Kuo Sharper Centre is dedicated to \u201cfueling the engine of entrepreneurship across the world.\u201d Her acknowledgment of Nigeria’s progress in the startup ecosystem highlighted the country\u2019s role as a leader in African innovation.<\/p>\n

As Shettima pointed out, President Bola Tinubu\u2019s bold decisiveness reflects a commitment to harness opportunities for economic transformation. \u201cPresident Tinubu is not afraid of taking bold decisions that will reposition Nigeria\u2019s economy,\u201d he said, further motivating entrepreneurs to create impactful change in their communities.<\/p>\n

In addition to Shettima and Sherif, the meeting included key figures like Zubaida Umar, Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and several fellows from the Kuo Sharper programme across Africa. This diverse gathering underscores the promise of collaborative opportunities that transcend borders.<\/p>\n
