A New York tourist’s dream trip took a devastating turn early Sunday morning when 25-year-old Kevin Mares was fatally shot while visiting Puerto Rico for Bad Bunny’s highly anticipated concert residency. The tragic event unfolded in La Perla, a seaside neighborhood near Old San Juan known for its vibrant culture but also its tumultuous past.<\/p>\n

Mares was reportedly an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire during an altercation among several individuals at a local nightspot, \u201cShelter for Mistreated Men.\u201d According to homicide detective Sgt. Arnaldo Ruiz, Mares was shot in the abdomen and rushed to Puerto Rico’s largest public hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Two other locals were wounded in the incident and are currently hospitalized.<\/p>\n

As detective Ruiz noted, \u201cWe\u2019re still in the early stages of establishing a motive for the events. We can’t rule anything out until the interviews are completed.\u201d The police are diligently investigating, but initial reports suggest that the altercation was not directly related to Mares or his companions, who were also visiting from New York. <\/p>\n
