Enrique\u2019s Mexican Restaurant, under the leadership of owner Ana Paz, has launched a creative initiative providing free books to children who dine at the establishment, encouraging families to engage with one another and cultivate a love for reading.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was disheartening to see families, especially children, absorbed in their phones rather than interacting with each other,\u201d said Paz. In response to this growing concern, she reached out to Kuna Early Learning<\/strong>, a local organization dedicated to supporting families and children. Together, they set the groundwork for an in-house library stocked with books that families can read during their meals and take home.<\/p>\n

Ludee Vermaas, Director of Kuna Early Learning, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting Paz\u2019s initiative as a creative way to foster community engagement. \u201cWe\u2019ve always wanted a business member in our collaborative group, and Ana is thinking outside the box about how to support families,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

The small library began operations in September, with an average of about 100 books distributed each week, showcasing the positive impact of local partnerships.<\/p>\n

Feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive. Parent Nedi Medina remarked, \u201cThey\u2019re taking initiative for our kids\u2019 education. It\u2019s something interactive, something different\u2026 they can actually learn something and enjoy a book instead of being on their phones.\u201d<\/p>\n

The impact of Enrique\u2019s initiative reflects a deeper societal truth\u2014values rooted in the importance of family connection and community.
