As we navigate our lives, we often become engrossed in familiar routines with those who look like us, think like us, and share our backgrounds. Yet, the call to welcome the stranger is foundational to our faith and a vital expression of our compassion. Our world is filled with people seeking safety, love, and acceptance. They are our neighbors, our coworkers, or they could be those we pass on the street\u2014a reminder that we are all part of the same human family.<\/p>\n

In a society that can sometimes feel divided, the call to welcome the stranger urges us to step outside of our comfort zones. It encourages us to recognize the beauty in diversity and to embrace the transformative power of empathy. This journey of compassion and justice compels us to ask important questions: Who are the strangers in our daily lives? How can we practice true hospitality in a way that honors their experiences and needs?<\/p>\n

Welcoming the stranger requires more than just an open door; it demands an open heart. It\u2019s about actively listening, understanding, and standing in solidarity with those who are marginalized. When we engage in acts of kindness and generosity, we reflect the heart of God, who has consistently welcomed the outsider with love and grace.<\/p>\n

Throughout scripture, we see numerous examples of this divine hospitality. Abraham welcomed three strangers into his home (Genesis 18) and was blessed beyond measure. Jesus spoke about the importance of caring for "the least of these" (Matthew 25:40), challenging us to recognize that our treatment of others is ultimately a reflection of how we treat Him.<\/p>\n
