\u201cIs not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter\u2014when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?\u201d<\/p>\n

In the journey toward understanding biblical justice, we often come face to face with the profound and painful history of slavery and oppression that exists in our world. The title \u201cShattered Chains\u201d serves as both a powerful metaphor and a divine promise. As we reflect on this theme, we recognize that chains represent the bondage of injustice\u2014both physical and spiritual\u2014that still affects so many today. Yet just as a chain can break, so too can we work towards dismantling the systems of injustice that bind people in our communities.<\/p>\n
