\u201cBut the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7<\/p>\n

Meaning<\/h2>\n

In this verse, Samuel was tasked with anointing a new king over Israel. He likely was expecting to anoint one of Jesse’s older, more experienced sons, based on their outward appearances and perceived strength. However, God chose David, the youngest and seemingly insignificant. This was starkly different from human expectations.<\/p>\n

God was teaching Samuel that His standard for choosing a king was not based on outward appearance but the individual’s heart condition. This instructs us that God values a heart that seeks after Him more than any physical, societal or material qualities we may possess. <\/p>\n

The heart represents our core, inner self – our motives, attitudes, and approach to life. Therefore, this verse encourages us to cultivate our inner character to reflect love, compassion, and godliness, aligning with God’s perspective.<\/p>\n
